What This Means for Revenue
Knya scores 40 on mobile in Google's lab test. FIGS, the global benchmark for scrubs, scores 70; among Indian peers The Scrub Life (46) and Mafatlal Medfits (44) also edge ahead, while Uwears (35) and Jaanuu (34) trail. Real visitors fare better than the lab suggests: Chrome field data from actual Knya shoppers puts the main image on screen in about 2.7s on mobile and the layout never jumps. The real gap is responsiveness. CleverTap, Tag Manager, the Google Ads tag, Clarity and app scripts such as the free-gift widget keep the phone's processor busy, so a tap takes about a third of a second to respond in the field (INP 311ms, above Google's 200ms bar) - The Scrub Life, Mafatlal Medfits and Jaanuu all pass it. Deferring non-essential tracking and app scripts until after the page is interactive is the biggest lever; on a mobile-first store where doctors shop between shifts, every laggy tap on a size or colour selector costs add-to-carts.
Technology Stack
Platform
Shopify
Shopify storefront with theme-store Horizon architecture, native cart drawer and Shopify-hosted checkout.
Theme
Horizon (customised)
- Type: Shopify Horizon 3.1.0 with custom sections
- Online Store 2.0 theme, customised with brand sections (colour shop, press, reviews carousel)
- Custom embroidery picker built into the product form
Checkout & Payments
Native Shopify Checkout via Shopify Payments stack (gateway shown only inside checkout)
- Guest checkout: email-first contact step with optional sign-in
- Express checkout: no UPI, wallet or one-tap button shown in the cart or at the top of checkout
- UPI and EMI via Snapmint promoted on product pages; cards and other methods inside checkout
Technology Assessment
Knya runs on Shopify with a customised Horizon theme, a native cart drawer and Shopify-hosted checkout. The foundation is solid and the storefront already handles size charts, embroidery, EMI and pincode checks. The opportunity sits at the cart and checkout handoff, where a faster pay option and clearer reassurance can lift completion.
UX & Conversion Findings
Page-by-page analysis with visual comparisons against top Fashion & Apparel (Medical Wear) stores
- Homepage product tiles have no add-to-bag or buy button.
- Shoppers must open each product page just to buy a scrub they already know.
- Every extra page on mobile adds friction and loses impatient repeat buyers.
- Add a quick buy button on each tile that opens a small size picker.
- Repeat buyers reach the bag faster, which lifts add-to-cart rate.
- Mafatlal Medfits shows a Buy Now button on its homepage products - a common best practice.
- The first screen shows a banner and a scrolling text strip, but no icons for free delivery, COD, easy exchange or EMI.
- These benefits sit only in a thin top bar that most shoppers skim past.
- First-time visitors comparing scrub brands miss the reasons to trust Knya.
- Add a row of simple icons under the banner: free delivery, COD, easy exchange, easy EMI.
- Clear benefits up front build trust and keep new visitors browsing.
- Mafatlal Medfits lists its benefits right under its banner; an icon row is a standard best practice on leading D2C stores.
- The filter covers gender, fabric, style, colour and pockets, but not size or price.
- Shoppers open product after product only to find their size missing or the price off.
- Wasted taps make shoppers more likely to leave the collection.
- Add a size filter that shows only styles in stock in that size.
- Add a price range filter to separate everyday and premium ranges.
- Uwears offers size and price filters on its scrub collections - a standard best practice.
- The same scrub style repeats as a separate tile for every colour.
- Shoppers scroll past near-identical tiles before reaching other styles.
- Lab coats, ecoflex and other ranges get pushed far down and are seen less.
- Show one tile per style and let the colour swatches switch the photo.
- Shoppers see more styles with less scrolling, so more products get clicked.
- Jaanuu shows one tile per style with colour swatches, as do Uwears and FIGS - a common best practice.
- Some colours, like the ecoflex wine scrub, show no rating by the price and ask for a first review.
- The same scrub in navy has strong ratings, but that trust does not carry over to other colours.
- Shoppers picking a less-reviewed colour see no proof and hesitate.
- Combine reviews across all colours of the same style.
- Show the stars and review count right by the product name and price on every page.
- FIGS shows its rating and review count right under the product name - a standard best practice.
- The size picker has no fit note, no model size worn and no petite or tall option.
- Fit details are hidden inside a closed 'Details & Fit' section.
- Reviews never mention the buyer's height or size, so fit stays guesswork.
- Size doubt is a leading reason shoppers drop off or send scrubs back.
- Add a one-line fit note and the model's height and size right under the size picker.
- Offer petite and tall lengths, and ask reviewers to share their height and size bought.
- FIGS shows a fit note with Regular and Petite options, and Jaanuu lists the model's size worn - a standard best practice.
- A red note warns of a long dispatch time right above an express shipping promise.
- Two different timelines make the delivery date unclear.
- Doubt about delivery at the buy button makes shoppers pause or leave.
- Show one delivery message for the chosen size and colour.
- Place the pincode check next to the add-to-cart button to confirm the date.
- Uwears shows one clear dispatch and delivery note - a standard best practice.
- A 'Complete the Look' row appears on Classic scrubs but is missing on the premium ecoflex pages.
- On ecoflex pages the suggestions start with the men's version of the same scrub.
- Shoppers buying the premium range get no prompt to add a cap, underscrub or jacket, so order value stays low.
- Show 'Complete the Look' on every scrub page, including ecoflex.
- Lead with the matching pant, then cap, underscrub and jacket, each with a clear Add button.
- Jaanuu shows a 'Shop the Look' row of matching pants and jackets on its product pages, and FIGS adds 'Complete The Set' by its add-to-bag button - a common best practice.
- Reviews are text only, with no customer photos or videos.
- Shoppers cannot see the fabric, colour or fit on real healthcare workers.
- Without visual proof, fit-conscious buyers hesitate and returns go up.
- Ask buyers for photos after delivery, with store credits as a reward.
- Show review photos at the top of the reviews and let shoppers filter to them.
- Uwears shows customer photos at the top of its reviews - a common best practice.
- The cart shows only the items added, with no product suggestions.
- Shoppers see nothing extra at the moment they are most ready to buy.
- Easy chances to grow the order are missed.
- Show a short row of matching add-ons inside the cart.
- One-tap add-ons lift items per order and order value.
- The Scrub Life shows a 'You may also like' row inside its cart - a common best practice.
- Below the checkout button there is only a tax note.
- Exchange, COD and secure payment messages from the product page disappear in the cart.
- Doubt at the final step leads to abandoned carts.
- Add a small strip under checkout: easy exchange, COD available, secure payment.
- Reassurance at the last step lifts the share of shoppers who start checkout.
- The Scrub Life shows 'UPI & Cards Accepted, 0 Extra Cost' right above its checkout button - a standard best practice.
- The cart says shipping is calculated at checkout, even though delivery is free.
- Shoppers cannot see their final amount before leaving the cart.
- Fear of hidden charges is a top reason for cart abandonment.
- Replace the note with a 'Delivery: Free' line in the cart total.
- A clear final amount builds confidence and moves shoppers to checkout.
- Jaanuu shows 'Shipping: Free' in its cart total - a standard best practice.
- The cart has no place to enter a discount code.
- Shoppers holding a code cannot see their final price until checkout.
- Not knowing whether the code works delays or stops the purchase.
- Add a small 'Apply discount code' box above the cart total.
- Seeing the saving before checkout builds confidence and lifts conversion.
- Jaanuu shows a discount code box inside its cart - a standard best practice.
- The checkout button opens a long contact and address form.
- There is no UPI or saved-details shortcut in the cart.
- Long forms on mobile make many shoppers give up before paying.
- Add a UPI or express checkout button next to the regular checkout button.
- Prefill details for returning shoppers so checkout takes seconds, not minutes.
- Uwears offers a one-step mobile-number checkout; fast checkout is a best practice on leading D2C stores.

App Stack Assessment
Knya has a mature stack covering reviews, EMI, engagement, delivery estimates, referrals and upsell. The gaps are more about activation than installation: the upsell app is not surfacing in the cart drawer, and reviews do not carry across colour versions. A faster checkout option and a wishlist would round out the set.
